Decorated Christmas Window Contest

Historic Downtown Mocksville Merchants Association held their 3rd annual "Decorated Christmas Window Contest" this week. The participation was great and the windows all looked fantastic! Everyone of them deserved a prize! A big thank you goes out to the Knights of Columbus for providing our judges. So while you are out and about this Christmas season, make it a point to take a walk through downtown Mocksville and enjoy the displays the merchants have made for you. There is also a co-op display in the former Mocksville Furniture window where several merchants have helped to decorate. Here are the winners for this year:

1st Place: Main Street Canines (Lighted village and moving train)

2nd Place: Mel's Place (beautifully decorated tree)

3rd Place: Nick and Nana's (Santa and bears)

Honorable Mentions: Skinny Wheels and Carolina Computer

Tree Of Honor

Help us “flag”the tree. A tribute tree to honor and or remember those who serve or have served to protect our freedom will be located beside the Mocksville Police Department. For each $1 contribution, a United States flag will represent a designated service person.

Our goal is to have the entire tree filled with flags!

Tax deductible contributions should be made payable to Historic Davie, Inc.

These contributions will be presented to Davie County Veterans Administration for local veteran services. Downtown merchants with flag posters, Davie County Chamber of Commerce and the Mocksville Town Hall will all have forms available with a $1 contribution or you may mail the form below to:

The DAVIE SCHOOL OF DANCE offers classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, Pre pointe, and tap. Dance is for EVERYONE…we have a TOTS CLASS where little ones are taught 3 styles of dance. The ADULT CLASS offers tap and jazz with a performance at the end of the year at our recital.

ALL CLASSES are broken down by ages and level of technique. Classes start at the BEGINNER LEVEL and continue to the ADVANCED LEVEL. For those students interested in MORE STAGE WORK, we offer competitions at the regional and national levels. We HIGHLY recommend our students to travel with the faculty/staff to regional workshops where they meet nationally renowned teachers and instructors, many of whom are judges on the current popular television show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

DANCE IS FOR EVERYONE!!! No one is turned away due to economic situations. We work with many single families who just need a BREAK and want their children or themselves to enjoy a dance class. We also work with Big Brother, Big Sister, Triumphant Counseling Services, Davie County Social Services, Davie County Senior Citizen Center, and our local school system.

Our goal is to provide a fun yet educational experience to our students. We strive for ALL of our students to respect others, to work within a “TEAM” environment, gain self-esteem, and to obtain essential skills that will carry them throughout life.

The Davie School of Dance is owned by Tami Garwood Langdon and is located at 127 N. Salisbury Street, Mocksville, NC 27028. The staff members are Terry Murphy, Khristen Mears and Ashley Murphy.
